⚡ TL;DR
GuessIt collects no personal data. There are no accounts, no servers storing your info, no tracking, and no analytics. Everything — your name, stats, XP, settings, custom packs, and admin password — lives in your browser's localStorage and never leaves your device.
💾Data We Store Locally
The following items are stored in your browser's localStorage on the GuessIt origin. They never get uploaded anywhere:
Player Name
The display name you choose for multiplayer and leaderboards.
Stats & History
Wins, losses, question counts, and your move-by-move replay log.
XP & Level
Progression points earned from playing games and daily challenges.
Settings
Sound mute, Poker Face toggle, theme preferences, and the like.
Daily Challenge
Whether you've completed today's daily challenge and your current streak.
Custom Packs
Any content packs you've authored in the admin panel.
Admin Password
If you set one, it's stored locally to gate access to the admin panel.
👥Multiplayer Data
When you play multiplayer, the game server temporarily holds the minimum state needed to run the room:
- Your display name (so your opponent can see who they're playing).
- The room code and current game state (whose turn, eliminated cards, scores).
- Your secret card for that round — shared only with spectators after the round ends.
This data lives in-memory only and is deleted the moment the game ends or the room expires (~10 minutes of inactivity). Nothing about your multiplayer sessions is ever written to disk.
🍪Cookies & Tracking
GuessIt uses no cookies, no tracking pixels, and no analytics. We don't fingerprint you, we don't follow you across the web, and we have nothing to sell. The only browser-side storage we touch is localStorage for the game state described above.
🌐Third-Party Services
The only third-party resource GuessIt loads is Google Fonts (the Patrick Hand typeface) via next/font/google. Google's font CDN may log standard request metadata (IP, user agent) per their own privacy policy; we do not send them any data ourselves. No ads, no analytics, no embedded social widgets.
🧒Children's Privacy
GuessIt is family-friendly and safe for players of all ages. Because we collect no personal information and require no account, the game is fully usable by children without parental consent. There are no in-app purchases, no chat outside of fixed taunts/reactions, and no public profiles. Parents can wipe all data at any time by clearing site storage in the browser.
⚖️Your Rights
Access: open your browser's DevTools → Application → Local Storage to see everything GuessIt has stored.
Delete: clear site data or click "Reset progress" in the in-game settings — all local data is wiped instantly.
Opt-out: simply don't play. No accounts, no profiles, no tracking — nothing leaves your device.
