Terms of Service
Last updated: June 30, 2026
1. Acceptance of Terms
By accessing or playing GuessIt(the "Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree with any part of these terms, please do not use the Service. We may update these terms from time to time; continued use after a change constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
2. Description of Service
GuessIt is a free, browser-based deduction game where players ask yes/no questions to identify a secret card. It includes a single-player bot mode, real-time 2-player multiplayer, daily challenges, replays, spectator mode, and the ability to author custom content packs. The Service is provided "as is" without charge.
โ 3. Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
No harassment, hate speech, or threats toward other players.
No offensive, obscene, or hateful display names or taunts.
No hacking, exploiting, or attempting to disrupt the game service.
No bots, scripts, or automated clients used to gain an unfair advantage.
Violations may result in temporary or permanent loss of access to multiplayer without notice.
4. Intellectual Property
The GuessIt software, art, sound, question text, default content packs, and the "GuessIt" name and logo are the property of the GuessIt project and protected by applicable copyright and trademark law. You may not copy, redistribute, or reverse-engineer the Service without permission.
5. User-Generated Content
GuessIt lets you author custom content packs โ your own items, descriptions, and traits โ via the admin panel. You retain ownership of any content you create. By authoring a custom pack, you represent that:
- You have the rights to use any text, emojis, or descriptions you include.
- Your pack content does not violate these Terms or any applicable law.
- Your pack content is not offensive, defamatory, or infringing.
Custom packs live in your browser's localStorage by default. We take no responsibility for the contents of user-authored packs shared between players.
6. Disclaimers
The Service is provided "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE" without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. We do not guarantee that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, secure, or available at any particular time.
7. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, the GuessIt project and its contributors shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages โ including loss of data, game progress, custom packs, or goodwill โ arising out of or related to your use of the Service, even if advised of the possibility of such damages. Because the Service stores data locally in your browser, you are responsible for backing up any content (such as custom packs) you wish to preserve.
8. Multiplayer Conduct
Multiplayer rooms are transient and not moderated in real time. You are responsible for your behavior toward opponents. The Service may impose a 30-second turn timer and auto-forfeit mechanic; circumventing this or otherwise stalling a game is prohibited. Room state is held in-memory and is discarded shortly after a game ends or players disconnect โ there is no persistent log of multiplayer conversations.
9. Changes to Terms
We may revise these Terms from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision. Material changes will be posted here; your continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
